Our Work

…from the Food Words portfolio

Stong’s is a Vancouver grocery institution (since 1931) and we’re helping them with their social media. We’ve developed an effective content strategy for their Facebook page, providing them with nutritional information, weekly specials, recipes, and product spotlights. We also gave their Facebook page a graphic makeover. Happy to say, the following continues to grow.

Food Words helped Cori’s Kitchen with much needed marketing materials. When they came to us they only had a logo and great products with 3 years of good sales. Now, they have a website, rack cards, new packaging, and a complete social media campaign which we maintain for them (yes they are on Facebook). Cori’s Kitchen is a Vancouver company making preservative-free prepared foods to take home.

We love our site because it’s such a good example of  magazine-style blogging. It’s a complex but friendly tool designed for a growing resource like ours – easy to manage, interactive functionality, and trouble-free maintenance. We wanted our site to demonstrate how information about food builds a following that translates into business. Foodwords also has a very active Facebook page with daily postings. Design team: Apples and Chocolate Web Development and Jude McGann.

Canadian Grocer is the national industry magazine for the retail grocery trade. Food Word’s principal, Leslie Javorski is a regular contributor, writing profiles, category reports, and features about industry trends.

Saveur Magazine. The gold standard in food magazines, published in the US, sold internationally. Leslie’s story is about the historic Medalta Potteries of Medicine Hat, Alberta, once Canada’s largest supplier of household crockery.

-

Western Living. This story – there are others – is about Bob Liptrot and Dana LeComte, owners of Tugwell Creek Meadery on Vancouver Island. It’s a good example of the many good things we have in our back yard.

The Georgia Straight. Leslie was a regular contributor to the food section when Angela Murrils was the food editor at the Straight.

The Vancouver Sun. Several stories but the best one was about Greek Easter featuring Mike Georgiopoulos, owner of Minerva’s on West Broadway, one of the original Greek deli’s of that once very Greek neighbourhood. The story (sadly, no scan) highlights the writer’s interest in food, culture, and family.

CirKids School of Circus Arts. Web consultant, content manager, and writer for the organization’s site, which served CirKids for six years (a good life for a website). Objective was to convey the school’s professional image, as well as present and manage information during an intense growth period.
